Playing Fields and Clubhouse

Clubhouse/Bar opening hours run by unpaid volunteers to support the upkeep of our Playing Fields:
Opening times Fri night 5 - 10pm, Sat night 5 - 8pm, Sun afternoon 3 - 5pm

Card payments only for purchases at the bar. For outdoor events, cash is accepted.

Cuddington Parish Council owns the Playing Fields and Clubhouse in Cuddington, on behalf of the whole village. The Playing Fields and Clubhouse are leased to the Cuddington Playing Fields Association, at a peppercorn rent, to manage these facilities. The Playing Fields facility is open to all Cuddington villagers free of charge. There are tennis courts, a children’s play area, football and cricket pitches, and a boules pitch.

Additionally, the Clubhouse bar is managed by a separate Club Committee, and membership is required to buy drinks because of licensing restrictions.

To ensure that the standard of the Clubhouse is maintained, all users are asked to clear up afterwards and dispose of any rubbish appropriately. Children must be accompanied by an adult inside the clubhouse. There is a TV for watching sporting events, and also a pool table and darts board.

In order to buy drinks at the bar, you need to be a Club Member. You can be a member either as an individual, or by paying the fee through a village club or society. If you are unclear whether you are a member or not, please contact the Treasurer (Tom Mackenzie-Boyle) or Secretary (Ellen Dyer).

How to book the Clubhouse for private use

One off usage e.g. for a party: £12.50 per hour. There is a £5 surcharge should you hire a bouncy castle, in order to cover our increased energy costs. Bar usage is not included when hiring the clubhouse.

Fireworks FAQs!

Please find below come further information with regards to the Fireworks Night on Saturday 8th November:

Can I buy tickets at the gate? No, this is a sold out event. Please only come if you have a valid ticket. It is advised that you print or take a screenshot of your ticket in advance as there may be limited data connection at the entrance gate.

Where do I park? There is a car park on the playing fields, marshals will direct you to a space, please do not park elsewhere as you may block local residents or emergency access.

Please do not park on the grass verges on Bernard Close leading up to the fields as this will block emergency access.

The postcode for the event is HP18 0AJ

When does the event open? Gates will open 5.45pm , please do not come before this time.

Are sparklers allowed? No, anyone using sparklers will be ejected from the event.

Do you take cash or card for stalls? The inside bar takes card and cash. All other stalls take cash, please ensure you bring cash as the bar is unable to do cashback.

Will there be food? Yes, there are food stalls.

Are you selling glow sticks? No, this year we have a UV facepainting stall instead.

Where should lost children go? Lost children or parents looking for their children should approach the MC at the front of the clubhouse who will put out an announcement over the PA system.

Where do I go for first aid? Please approach a steward (they will be in high viz) or approach the MC who will put out a call for first aid. Phone numbers for the first aiders are also on the event site map which will be fixed on the clubhouse windows.

What is the schedule for the live acts and the fireworks/bonfire?

The categories have been announced for this years dog show at the Playing Fields on Sunday 26th May. Kindly sponsored by Love of Paws, they are as follows:

First Aid Classes at Cuddington Playing Fields Clubhouse

In June I will be running two First Aid Courses at the Cuddington Playing Fields Club.

My award winning Baby & Child First Aid Class will give you the skills and knowledge required to protect your little ones and keep them safe. On this class we cover: CPR, Choking, Burns, Meningitis Awareness, Febrile Seizures, Head Bumps, Breaks and lots more…

I will also be running a two-hour Adult Awareness Class which will cover all the essential First Aid skills required to deal with the most common First Aid situations including: Heart Attacks, Cardiac Arrests, how to perform CPR, allergies and epi pens, using a defibrillator and much more…

Playground Repainting 13th to 17th May

Please note that the big slide, climbing frame and rocking horse are being repainted on the 13th May, and will be out of action until the 17th May.

The area will be roped off to discourage children from using the equipment while the paint dries. Many thanks for your cooperation with this.

Clubhouse Membership Prices 2023

Thank you to everyone who has supported us over 2022, your custom is much appreciated.

It is an inescapable fact that the utility bills at the clubhouse are becoming increasingly more expensive, and with this in mind we need to adjust our membership fees to reflect this. For 2023 membership fees will be as follows:

Family - £15
Individual - £10
Concession - £5

Membership fees have remained static for many years, so we hope you all appreciate that this has been a decision that was not taken lightly. Bar prices will remain the same, except for a handful of items that have seen a significant increase in supplier cost.

Membership fees are due in January 2023, please pay at the bar. Cash and card are accepted.

IMPORTANT- To use the bar at the Clubhouse, you MUST be a member. It's not us being difficult or trying to cash in, it's in the terms of our license. We hold a club premises certificate rather than a full premises license, this is partly due to the reduced licensing fee, but mainly because we are a community run organisation and not a public house. Bar staff are unpaid volunteers, which also helps to keep prices competitive. All profits from the bar go towards the upkeep of the playing fields and clubhouse.

The Fine Young Cuddingtons

On Saturday 17th December our resident band comprising village dads Jefferson, Rob and Edd join together once again to bring you live music and a Christmas sing-a-long. If you saw them at the Community Day in September, you will know this is not to be missed. Bar opens at 5pm, with music starting at 6pm. Grab some fish & chips from Howe & Co who will be stopping off, and settle in for what promises to be a great family night.

The Cuddington Playing Fields Clubhouse will be showing England's World Cup 22 evening and weekend matches. With a new larger TV and surround sound this is this place to watch the football! Pints of lager and glasses of wine start at £2.50. We have XT on draft and a full range of soft drinks. Fixtures showing so far are:

More fixtures will be confirmed following the completion of the group stage and hopefully England's qualification!

Village Party 2022

The Village Party will be returning to Cuddington Playing Fields on Saturday 10th September, 1pm onwards. This is a collaboration between the CPFA, fete committee and various other societies, businesses and individuals in the village.

Lizzie Greenwood-Hughes will be once again running her hugely successful dog show. Pam’s Bakehouse will be selling her wonderful cakes and sweet treats. There will be a second-hand book stall, a second-hand DVD and blu-ray stall, BBQ, bar, music and games as well as other activities and stalls. This year we have three new entries: Kate from Usborne children’s books, Rachel from Rachel’s Craft Eva After and Erica who will be providing Reiki sessions.

The popular human fruit machine will also be featuring! We are also keen to resurrect a few other fete favourites, so if you can help then please do email me on ells1982@gmail.com.

If you have any donations of good quality (i.e. saleable) adult fiction or children’s books, please bring them along to Viv Birkby at Wayside, Bridgeway (292921).

We no longer take non-fiction as they do not sell well and we end up taking most of those donated to local charity shops. And they are usually very heavy!!!

Please be aware that BBQs and fires are not permitted on the Playing Fields, except with permission from the Parish Council for special events. Disposable BBQs are leaving scorched ground which is not only a danger, but ruins the football pitches which we work so hard to maintain. Thank you for your cooperation.

Playing Fields Club Membership Fees 2022

The Cuddington Playing Fields Club holds a club premises licence, which states that users of the bar must be members of the CPFC. This keeps our licensing fee down and ensures that we can offer lower drinks prices than a typical licensed establishment. Joining is easy, simply speak to one of our volunteers behind the bar. Membership fees for 2022 are as follows:

Individual - £5
Concession - £3

Burnt rubbish left on Playing Fields

Antisocial Behaviour on the Playing Fields

Over the summer months we have experienced an increase in antisocial behaviour on the Cuddington Playing Fields. Key offences include bonfires/BBQs and littering. We believe those responsible are from outside the village, which makes it difficult to identify the perpertrators. We hope that this is as a result of lockdown and not likely to become a regular occurrence.

We have reported these issues to the Waddesdon PCSO team, and would like to encourage villagers to also do so where they witness such incidents. For non urgent matters, please call 101.

Additionally, we would like to highlight that golf is not permitted on the playing fields as this is in contravention of the byelaws which govern this land.

Bar Update

In line with government guidelines, we are hoping to reopen the clubhouse bar on 4th July.

Once we have clear guidance from the government, we will update you with regards to our opening times and new procedures. As all bar staff are volunteers, it may be that we have to adjust timings slightly so please do check back on this page, or the village Facebook page for the latest updates.

We are thankful that we have a large outdoor area that we can utilise, however the terms of our licence specify that to purchase drinks from the bar for you will need to be a member. It’s easy to sign up and at just £10 per family represents real value for money! A typical pint is around £3 and a glass of wine is £2.50. All funds raised go to the CPFA to support the upkeep of the playing fields and clubhouse.

The staff are all volunteers and it wouldn’t be right to ask them to work at this time. If just one or two of us had to self-isolate, we wouldn’t be able to keep the place going.

Playing Fields Tree Planting

We need your help!

Cuddington Playing Fields Association took receipt of 210 saplings this week and we need to get them planted.

If you have this Saturday morning to spare (7th March) we would be very appreciative of help up at the Playing Fields to plant our hedging and trees.

We are meeting at the clubhouse around 9.45am. Please bring spades and gardening gloves and help us create a small wildlife haven for our future generations!

Despite the poor forecast, the Fireworks display will still be going ahead so please do wrap up warm and support it! It will also raise the spirits of those that have given up their time to plan, organise and deliver all elements of the event too - thank you!

The display will be at 7.30pm prompt and we'll have as many Gazebos up as possible to give viewing shelter... and there's viewing from the Clubhouse too - thank you!

Macmillan Biggest Coffee Morning

Thank you to everyone who came to The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Saturday 28th September, to help us raise funds for the Macmillan nurses. Also thank you to all those who donated the beautiful cakes. We raised the fantastic sum of £403.50, plus Gift Aid.

Family Fun Day 2019

On Sunday 2nd June from 12pm until 5pm the Cuddington Playing Fields Association will be running a Family Fun Day.

There will be a range of sporting activities to try out, as well as good food, drink and entertainment. In particular, we will be holding village cricket and rounders matches – these are strictly for fun so no prior expertise is required! We also have giant Jenga, Connect 4 and kids’ entertainment from the fantastic Cha Char Chimps.

Entry is free and all proceeds from stalls go towards the upkeep of the playing fields and clubhouse.

We are also keen to add volunteers to our organising team so if you can either:
a) bake a cake etc. for the cake stall, or
b) help out on the day for an hour or two (there are a variety of roles to suit!)

The playing fields and clubhouse, whilst leased from the Parish Council, are run by an independent group of volunteers. We are responsible for the upkeep of the playing fields and associated clubhouse, and rely predominately on fundraising to achieve this goal. Your support is vital!
